WE ARE FIND MEMPHIS

We are a photography-based website celebrating and promoting the goings-on of Memphis.

Carla McDonald is a native Memphian who has spent the majority of her adult life singing and performing in area theatres, predominantly Memphis’ Only Professional Resident Theatre Company, Playhouse on the Square, where she has been a Resident Company Member since 1999. She also spent 10 years singing with the wildly popular local party band, The Bouffants.

Courtney Oliver also began her work with Playhouse on the Square first as an intern in 1998 and then joining the full-time staff in 2001 as a Resident Company Member and the Director of Public Relations. She is currently on staff as the Director of Auditions and Special Events and has spent the past 9 years as a Director and Choreographer as well.

Carla and Courtney met on stage in 1998 at Playhouse on the Square in a production of The Who’s Tommy – and despite their obvious connections through the theatre, it was really a mutual appreciation for the absurdity of Toonces the Driving Cat that made them fast friends. Seventeen years, hundreds of photos, scores of walks, hours of laughs, and this website later, they still love the thrill of discovering Memphis.

Bill Simmers is a Memphis transplant from Perryville, Maryland. Most days he can be spotted burning the road up in his trusty Prius or on his badass Trek bicycle. Bill is an amazing photographer and has mad skills in filmography, graphics, sound design, web design, and any other geek thing you can imagine. He can also tear up a banjo and bang the crap out of some drums. Bill also shoots with a Canon 5D Mark III.

Rory Dale is a native of Bexhill-0n-Sea, England, but he is an avid supporter of all things Memphis and even though he has re-located to California, will always call Memphis home and support the images that come from Find Memphis.

Together they connect whole-heartedly on finding the beauty – and the funny – and the depth – in all things. Memphis is an enchanted place colored by its history and its legacy and its vibrancy. Memphis musician, Drew Holcomb, beautifully states that “Memphis doesn’t hide its scars – but instead wears them proudly as it gathers you around to tell its story.”

We hope to share pieces of that story through these images. Scars and all.
